\"\"LESSON 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n

WHY DID JESUS HAVE TO DIE?<\/strong><\/h1>\n

It was still dark that early morning, when the startling command came from God to Abraham:<\/p>\n

“Abraham… Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest,<\/p>\n

and get thee into the land of Moriah;<\/p>\n

and offer him there for a burnt offering<\/strong> upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.\u201d [01] Genesis 22:1, 2<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The aged patriach trembled greatly at the terrible command he just heard.<\/p>\n

Now, God had specifically promised that through Isaac, Abraham will become the father of multitudes.<\/p>\n

All his hopes and dreams are laid upon this miraculous son whom God gave him,<\/p>\n

when both he and his wife were over 90 years old.<\/p>\n

He just could not understand how God could possibly issue such a command as this,<\/p>\n

but he had learned the lesson of absolute obedience towards his Father in heaven,<\/p>\n

even when he doesn’t understand what’s going on.<\/p>\n

He was so obedient, that not only would he go against his own fatherly feelings to obey the will of God,<\/p>\n

but he would also hide the matter from Sarah his wife,<\/p>\n

refused even to utilize the mother’s protest as the excuse to step back from this command.<\/p>\n

And thus Abraham gently wake his dear son Isaac and two of his trusted servants,<\/p>\n

and together, they journeyed three days to mount Moriah.<\/p>\n

Aproaching the mountain, he ordered his two servants to stay and wait for his return.<\/p>\n

And then, laying the woods on his dear son’s shoulder, he led him to the top.<\/p>\n

Sensing that something is wrong, Isaac asked,<\/p>\n

“My father, behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”<\/p>\n

Abraham answered, “My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering.” [01] Genesis 22:6-8<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

When they reached the top, with a broken heart, Abraham revealed to his son the truth,<\/p>\n

and Isaac, being an obedient Son himself, yielded his will to the Father’s.<\/p>\n

After a final embrace, Isaac stretched out his hands to be bound,<\/p>\n

and Abraham lift up his dagger to strike down.<\/p>\n

His obedience was complete. He had passed the test.<\/p>\n

And the Lord immediately stopped him, and direct him to sacrifice a ram nearby,<\/p>\n

whose horns were stuck in a thicket of thorns instead.<\/p>\n

\"\"A Son carrying the wood on his back,<\/p>\n

and a Father who had to led him up the hill to die, with his heart broken at every step.<\/p>\n

This story above was just a shadow of another that is infinitely more heartbroken,<\/p>\n

where an actual Father had to sacrifice His beloved Son.<\/p>\n

Abraham wasn’t called “the friend of God” in the Bible for nothing.<\/p>\n

He was the one man privileged by God to know the feelings of His own heart:<\/p>\n

how it feels like, having to sacrifice your own beloved Son.<\/p>\n

However, in the story of God and His Son, the dagger wasn’t stopped.<\/p>\n
